As one of the most commonly used valves in automated process control systems, pneumatic control valves often leave users confused when selecting models. This is because different operating conditions require different types of control valves, and choosing the appropriate valve for specific process requirements is crucial to regulating various process parameters. For example, the most common pneumatic double-seat control valves and Pneumatic single-seat control valves differ in structure, making them suitable for distinct applications.

Regarding how to choose between the two, we can clearly understand from their names: one is single-seat and the other is double-seat. As the name suggests, the difference lies in the valve seat—double-seat valves have two seats inside the valve body, while single-seat valves have only one.

1). A single-seat configuration features a one-sided sealing structure with a single seal line, similar to plugging a hole with a stopper. It has the characteristic of low leakage. However, this valve experiences high unbalanced forces and thus has a smaller allowable pressure differential compared to a double-seat valve, although its leakage is relatively small.

2). A double-seat design in control valves typically applies where pressure compensation is required. By using two seal lines on the valve plug simultaneously for sealing, it achieves both pressure compensation and effective shutoff. This design can withstand higher pressure differentials and is particularly suitable for applications involving high flow rates, large pressure drops, and relatively high leakage requirements.
